Atlético Baleares draw against Ilicitano (1-1) and sit third
CD Atlético Baleares earned a point at Estadi Balear against Elche Ilicitano (1-1) in matchday 31 of the Segunda RFEF (Group III). Luis Blanco’s team came back from the visitors’ goal at the end of the first half thanks to a header from Florin Andone.
The game began with clear chances for ATB and an Ilicitano side that didn’t fall behind. Florin Andone and Tovar were, once again, key players. They showed great individual skills and composure up front. The visitors tried to hit on the counterattack, but local goalkeeper Jagoba Zárraga was solid.
In the 45th minute, Ilicitano went ahead after a cross from the wing. In the second half, the blue and whites had to roll up their sleeves to turn the match around. Confidence and grit for a second half that started well.
Florin had the clearest chance after a slip from the visiting keeper. In the 72nd minute, Florin beat the entire defense to head home the equaliser after a corner kick by Rubén (1-1). Rubén himself had another clear chance minutes later, but it was saved by the Ilicitano goalkeeper.
With no time left and no more clear opportunities, the match ended 1-1. A point that leaves Luis Blanco’s side third in the standings with three games remaining.
