Sabadell 3-2 Atlético Baleares, controversial defeat in the eighth round of Segunda RFEF (Group III)

Atlético Baleares lost 3-2 in their visit to Sabadell in the eighth round of Segunda RFEF (Group III), in a match marked by a controversial refereeing performance and two disputed penalties. Despite the Balearic team’s fight, the locals secured the three points in a dramatic finish during stoppage time.

The first half was very even, with both teams looking for their chance but without creating clear scoring opportunities. Neither Sabadell nor Atlético Baleares managed to impose themselves, leaving everything open for the second half. It was then that the match took an unexpected turn.

In the 76th minute, Sabadell took the lead after a highly controversial penalty, awarded after a tackle by Josep Jaume that appeared to have touched the ball. The locals didn’t miss from the spot and made it 1-0.

Atlético Baleares responded quickly, and shortly after, Dani Plomer equalized with a great cross from Sergio Moreno. However, the tie didn’t last long, as Sabadell regained the lead with an isolated play inside the box that ended in a goal, leaving goalkeeper Morillas helpless.

When the game seemed lost, Sergio Moreno appeared in the 100th minute with a powerful shot to make it 2-2, giving hope to the Balearic side. However, the tension escalated again when in the 106th minute the referee awarded another penalty, this time for a handball that followed a foul on Pol. The locals did not miss and sealed the match with the final 3-2.

The game ended with the expulsion of coach Jaume Mut. Despite the effort, Atlético Baleares returns home without points but with the feeling of having competed until the end in a very tough match. ATB drops to eighth place but still has a chance to fight for everything in the category.
