Luis Blanco: “We need to be at our best to win: they will demand a lot from us at home”

The Atlético Baleares head coach gave an update on his team ahead of the first match of the year at Estadio Balear. The white-and-blue coach looked back on the last game against UE Olot, spoke about Sunday’s opponents Barbastro CF, updated the squad’s injury and suspension situation, and addressed the status of Carlos Julio as well as the club’s new winter signing, Marc Lachèvre.

On the match in Olot:

“It was a hard match to digest.”

“We dropped points again in stoppage time. That takes a toll on morale.”

“We put in a tremendous effort, despite the absences, but they scored in the final action.”

Next opponent: Barbastro CF:

“In this division, every opponent is tough.”

“Barbastro compete in every match. Even away from home, they are difficult to beat.”

“We need to be at our best to win: they will demand a lot from us at home.”

Squad situation:

“It’s been a good week of work, and we’re fully focused on Sunday’s game.”

“Rubén Bover was able to play last week, but now he is suspended. It helps him finish his recovery properly.”

“Jaume Pol is also suspended.”

“We still don’t know if Jaume Tovar will be available.”

Message of support for Carlos Julio:

“It’s a difficult situation.”

“We wish him all the best and send him our full support.”

Marc Lachèvre, first winter signing:

“I’ve worked with him for several seasons.”

“He can contribute from day one. We’re trying to shorten the adaptation period, as we don’t have a pre-season.”

“He will bring a lot of energy, hard work and competitiveness.”

Atlético Baleares’ next match is against Barbastro CF on Sunday, January 11, at 12:00.
