José Antonio García, Tato, new coach of Atlético Baleares

José Antonio García Escudero, Tato, has been chosen to replace Onésimo Sánchez as the head coach of Atlético Baleares’ first team. The Mallorcan coach, who was previously in charge of the Santanyí reserve team, takes the reins of the Balearic team with the aim of keeping the team away from the danger zone.

The club’s sports management values the qualities of the Mallorcan coach and rewards the good work of the home team. Tato takes charge after leaving Santanyí as co-leaders of Group XI of the Tercera RFEF, tied on points with Andratx with 10 games remaining. In the previous two seasons in charge of the Balearic reserve team, the coach qualified the team for the promotion playoffs to Segunda RFEF in his first year, while last season he finished the league in sixth place, not qualifying for the promotion phase due to goal difference.

Previously, he coached in the Tercera RFEF for Manacor and CD Ferriolense, precisely in the Son Ferriol club where he trained the youth teams and the Juvenil División de Honor.

The coach, who signs until the end of the season, is accompanied by the coaching staff who worked alongside him at Santanyí. Toni Matas becomes the second coach and Joan Valentí is the new fitness coach of the first team.
