Two goals from Florin Andone give ATB their first win of the season (2-1)

CD Atlético Baleares claimed their first win of the season with a 2-1 victory over UD Poblense at the Estadi Balear. Two goals from Florin Andone, who marked his return to the team with a decisive performance off the bench, secured all three points for Óscar Troya’s side in front of their home supporters.

The sides went into half-time goalless. ATB’s clearest chance came through Jofre in the seventh minute. The team continued to push forward as the half progressed, including a move involving Nofre and Izan that ended with the goalkeeper gathering the ball. At the other end, Juli Rivas produced a fine two-handed save in the 41st minute to keep the scores level.

After the restart, the Blanquiazules continued to search for the breakthrough. Izan threatened several times down the flank, while Álvaro Martín was alert to cut out a Poblense counter-attack in the 63rd minute.

Óscar Troya turned to his bench during the second half. Bover and Miguelito replaced Jofre and Izan, before Florin Andone and Mamadou Alpha came on for Raúl Caballero and Iván López in the 66th minute. Rubén Catalá later replaced Adrià Catalá.

The breakthrough arrived in the 78th minute. Pablo Hernández delivered the ball for Florin Andone to head home, sparking celebrations around the Estadi Balear. It was the perfect return for the striker, whose goal put ATB ahead heading into the closing stages.

In the 84th minute, the referee awarded a penalty for a foul on Soler and showed Payeras a second yellow card. Florin stepped up from the spot and made no mistake, converting in the 86th minute to make it 2-0 and complete his brace.

UD Poblense pulled one back in the 91st minute, during the five minutes of added time, with a header that Juli was unable to keep out on the goal line. The visitors’ goal meant ATB had to stay fully focused until the final whistle, but there was no further change to the scoreline.

The final whistle sparked celebrations at the Estadi Balear as ATB secured their first league victory of the season. Three points at home, with the returning Florin Andone taking centre stage with his two goals.

ATB’s next fixture will be against RCD Mallorca B on Sunday, 11 October at 12:00, once again at the Estadi Balear.
