Fifth consecutive draw for ATB (1-1)

CD Atlético Baleares earned another point at Estadio Balear on matchday 23 of the Segunda RFEF (Group III) league championship. Luis Blanco’s team drew 1-1 against UE Sant Andreu after a match where the home side had two clear chances from Florin Andone. With this draw, it’s now five consecutive in 2025. The next opponent will be Badalona Futur.

The blue and whites came into the match with a change on the bench. Luis Blanco took charge of his first game as head coach and showed enthusiasm and personality from the start. In the 36th minute, a play between Tovar and Florin Andone ended in the first and only goal for Atlético Baleares (1-0). The ‘9’ recovered a ball and, after a good pass, Florin fought with the visiting defender, who ended up scoring an own goal. The halftime score was 1-0.

The second half was a bit more frantic, with chances coming from strong individual efforts. Sergio Moreno had good opportunities that nearly resulted in goals. Berto Rosas also had two chances to score the second goal, but it was UE Sant Andreu who managed to equalize after a corner kick.

Both teams could have taken the victory, but Florin Andone and the visiting goalkeeper prevented it. The top scorer had two clear opportunities against the rival goalkeeper, but he responded with great saves. The match ended 1-1.

Words from Luis Blanco:

“It was a mix of emotions. We did some good things. The game could have gone either way. In the final third, we weren’t at our best, but I’m happy with the energy and how we showed our determination. We wanted to prove what we are capable of.”

“We faced a strong opponent that played well, and this point could be important. We wanted to give the win to the fans and ourselves.”

“The dressing room was eager to win today. We hadn’t been getting good results. It’s normal to feel frustration, and today I’ll let the players rest, but starting tomorrow, we’ll have our best energy and focus on Badalona. We had the chance to take all three points.”

“The team did great work without the ball. There was an extra emotional toll, but it wasn’t an issue. We’ll need more control.”

“In the first half, we were well-organized with the ball. We didn’t pose enough of a threat, but we played in their half.”

“In the second half, we expected them to step up, but just when everything was calm, they scored.”
