Fabrice Montcheu, a two-footed addition to the ATB defence

CD Atlético Baleares have signed German defender Fabrice Montcheu.

The 28-year-old, who is of Cameroonian descent, joins the Balearic project after spending the majority of his career in German football. Comfortable on either flank, Fabrice will provide versatility and valuable options for Óscar Troya’s coaching staff.

A product of the 1. FC Union Berlin academy, Montcheu has made close to 200 Regionalliga appearances, Germany’s fourth tier, a competition renowned for its pace, intensity and physical demands.

In recent seasons, he has represented Würzburger Kickers, a club with which CD Atlético Baleares enjoys an excellent relationship following several pre-season friendlies played at the Estadi Balear.

Montcheu stands out for his versatility. He can play as a right-back, wing-back or winger and is equally comfortable on either side, offering solutions both defensively and going forward.

Sporting Director Marc Julià welcomed the new signing:

“We are delighted to bring Fabrice to the club. We continue to monitor the German market very closely because we believe it produces players with an outstanding work ethic, discipline and intensity.

Fabrice is a highly experienced player, with almost 200 appearances in the German Regionalliga, an extremely competitive division. What impressed us most was his outstanding versatility. He can play as a full-back, wing-back or winger on either the right or left, giving the coaching staff plenty of tactical options throughout the season.

Beyond his footballing qualities, we have found someone who is genuinely excited about moving to Mallorca and becoming part of this project. From our very first conversation, he showed a huge desire to wear the Atlético Baleares shirt, and we believe that enthusiasm will play a key role in helping him settle in.”

Welcome, Fabrice!
