Atlético Baleares secures a great victory against Sabadell (1-0)
CD Atlético Baleares secured a great victory against Sabadell (1-0) after playing the entire second half with one player less. Luis Blanco’s team knew how to suffer, and with a goal from Toni Ramon, they took all three points in the 25th round of the Segunda RFEF Group III.
The match began with a heartfelt tribute to former blanquiazul player Javier Dorado, who passed away this week. Fernando Crespí, Marc Julià, and Patrick Messow placed a bouquet of flowers and a jersey in the center of the field. Then, during the minute of silence, they honored the number “18” blanquiazul.
Once the ball started rolling, it was the visitors who dominated the game, creating two clear chances that Jagoba Zárraga saved brilliantly. Towards the end of the first half, Guillem Castell was sent off with a direct red card after a hard tackle on Morcillo. The first half ended goalless.
Two substitutions and a lot of grit were the key to the second half. Jaume Tovar and Forniés gave the team an extra boost. It was precisely the blanquiazul captain who played a crucial role in the winning goal. Forniés delivered a great cross, Florin Andone fought for the ball, and after a rebound, Toni Ramon sent it into the back of the net.
With determination and great effort from the entire team, Atlético Baleares secured three points for the second consecutive week. Next Saturday at 12 noon, they will face Valencia Mestalla.
