Atlético Baleares earn a key victory against Torrent (0-1) to consolidate third place

CD Atlético Baleares secured a crucial win in Valencia after beating Torrent (0-1) thanks to a goal by Florin Andone in matchday 28 of the league. Visiting goalkeeper Jagoba Zárraga denied the home team with a penalty save, and with this victory, the Balearic side consolidate their position in third place in Group III of the Segunda RFEF.

ATB approached the match as a battle against a Torrent CF team that was undefeated in 2025 so far. The match was played on an artificial turf field, where the ball barely rolled. Set pieces, duels, and individual plays defined the game.

Luis Blanco’s men started well with notable actions from Tovar and Florin leading the attack. Even so, the clearest chance came from the home team, with a long-range strike from Juanma that hit the post.

As the first half progressed, ATB pressed better and created their clearest chances through throw-ins. Pol and Carlos Julio searched for the strikers, and both Gerardo and Toni Ramon came close to scoring.

The match went to halftime with a 0-0 draw. Balance and fierce competition on both sides.

The second half began with Atlético Baleares switched on. Tovar had a golden chance, but Roan cleared the ball off the line. From then on, Torrent pressed more but couldn’t trouble the visitors’ goal.

In the 75th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Torrent, but Jagoba saved it. In the 83rd minute, Rubén delivered a brilliant cross to Florin Andone, who netted his seventh goal of the season.

The match ended 0-1, with a vital win for Atlético Baleares, which strengthens their hold on third place with 48 points and extends their unbeaten run to ten matches. Next Sunday (12 pm, Estadi Balear), ATB will host Alzira, who have 30 points and are fighting to avoid relegation. It’s a golden opportunity to keep climbing, especially with a clash between the top two teams, Sant Andreu and Europa.
