UE Olot snatches a draw in stoppage time (2-2)

CD Atlético Baleares secured a point at Estadio Balear against UE Olot (2-2) on matchday 27 of Segunda RFEF (Group III). Luis Blanco’s side dominated the game and had clear chances to seal the victory. However, a 90th-minute goal from Marc rewarded the Catalan team and denied the home side the win.
The draw felt disappointing for ATB, especially after a strong start from the home team. Moha and Jaume Tovar were the most dangerous players. The Senegalese winger was highly active down the right flank, while Tovar was a constant threat. In the 40th minute, Tovar reacted quickly to a rebound from the visitors and netted the opening goal (1-0).
The team went into halftime with a narrow lead, and after the break, ATB continued to dominate. However, a defensive lapse led to Carlos Gilbert’s equaliser in the 51st minute (1-1).
From that moment on, ATB created several chances. Toni Ramon, Sergio, Moha, and Tovar had up to seven clear opportunities, but the second goal didn’t come until the 73rd minute, when Florin Andone got ahead of the opposing goalkeeper to put ATB back in front (2-1).
After the goal, ATB continued to have clear chances, but in the 90th minute, Marc Mas scored from inside the box to level the game (2-2). With this result, Luis Blanco’s team remains unbeaten in eight games and sits third in the table.
Next Sunday at 12:00 pm, ATB will face Torrent at the Campo Municipal de San Gregorio – Torrent (Valencia). This will be a crucial match for ATB’s promotion ambitions. Torrent sits sixth with 43 points, just two points behind Atlético Baleares, who hold third place with 45 points.
Coach’s Comments – Luis Blanco (ATB)
“When you concede in the last minute, the first feeling is frustration and sadness. This is football. We need to work on improving this because we didn’t manage it well. Not just the goal, but we didn’t perform well in the last ten minutes.”
“We had plenty of chances and shooting opportunities. These things can happen. You leave with a draw that leaves a bitter taste.”
“Today, we weren’t clinical, and psychologically, that takes a toll. When you don’t finish the game, intensity drops at times. Not killing the match off reduced our confidence. We wanted to stay dangerous, but it wasn’t possible.”
“We did a lot of things well today, but only in phases. Offensively, we made great progress. We have to keep improving.”
