ATB secures valuable draw in Teruel (1-1) – this Sunday, everyone to Estadi Balear!

CD Atlético Baleares secured a valuable 1-1 draw against CD Teruel in the first leg of the Primera RFEF promotion playoff semifinals. Luis Blanco’s men took the lead thanks to a goal from Florín, but the home team equalized with an individual effort.

More than 150 Balearicos were present in the stands at Pinilla Stadium. Their support helped ATB throughout the 90+ minutes of the match.

In both halves, the home side started stronger, but little by little Atlético Baleares grew into the game. There were no clear chances, but goalkeeper Jagoba Zárraga was solid and the teams went into the break level.

After halftime, Florín Andone once again put the visiting side ahead after a pass from Tovar (0-1). A perfect finish to score the first goal of the Playoff.

In the 67th minute, José Val equalized after a great team move. Right after the goal, visiting player Sergio Moreno — who had come on for Keita in the second half — had a clear chance.

The match ended 1-1. A result that leaves the tie wide open, but everything will be decided next Sunday at Estadi Balear, starting at 12 noon. A win or even a draw would see ATB through to the final round for promotion.

Words from Luis Blanco:

“It was a very demanding match, and in the early minutes of both halves we struggled to get into it. They understood the game well and started with good rhythm.”

“From then on, we managed to contain them, and both sides created chances. We were fortunate to score. We needed to hold that result. We played our match. It’s not a good result.”

“We want the same support they had. Our fans helped and we want to create a great atmosphere. We don’t play alone… the institution, the club, the supporters… we are motivated.”

“Teruel had a lot of energy. They read the different phases of the game well. They are similar to us. They’ve grown stronger throughout the season, and it showed today.”
