Luis Blanco: “These are the games you love to play, and we’re going to enjoy it”

Head coach Luis Blanco spoke to the media ahead of the derby against UD Poblense, which will take place on Sunday 22 at 12:00 pm at the Municipal de Sa Pobla.

On the match and how both teams are approaching it:

“They’re having an outstanding season. I think tomorrow’s game, with the tension and the desire to win from both sides, will make for a great contest.”

“What you’ll see on the pitch are two very good teams, and we’re fortunate that this match is being played here on the island. Right now they have the edge and there’s still a long way to go. We’re going into the game to win it.”

“I expect the UD Poblense we’ve seen all season. They’re unbeaten at home, they know exactly how they want to play and they manage the tempo of the game very well. We’ll need to be at our very best to beat them, even better than in the first leg.”

“These are the kind of matches you look forward to, the ones you love playing in, and we’re going to enjoy it. We’re also happy because a lot of our supporters will be there; that gives you an extra boost.”

“Being the first team to win at Poblense’s ground would be a major challenge for the players.”

“We’ve been picking up points consistently. It’s true that in recent games we haven’t managed to win away from home. That’s part of the season: we’re competing very well at home and finding it harder to collect points on the road, but we’re working to keep the positive momentum.”

Injuries and the starting XI:

“We still have tomorrow’s training session. As for Manu Morillo and Rubén, it’s still too early to know if they’ll be available; they might be, they might not.

I haven’t decided on the starting XI yet. I do have different options in mind, but I prefer to finalise it after the last training session.”
