Third consecutive ATB victory (0-1)
Atlético Baleares earned an impressive win on their visit to Atlètic Lleida after a match in which they showed personality, solidity and a very clear game plan from the very first minute.
ATB took control right from the start, dictating the tempo and keeping the game organised. Cherta and Ulrich bossed the midfield, while Moha was a constant threat down his flank. Even so, the game progressed with plenty of battles in the centre of the pitch and few clear chances.
The best opportunity of the first half fell to Juanmi Durán, but Lleida’s captain Pau Torres reacted quickly to deny the goal. A couple of consecutive corners kept the Blues camped in the opposition half, although without reward.
After the break, in a perfect transition, Luis Blanco’s men struck gold: a trademark diagonal run from Jaume Tovar and a brilliant finish from the striker — who now has 11 goals this season — sealed the 0–1.
Atlético Baleares nearly doubled their lead in the 77th minute, again from a set piece, but luck sided with the home team. In the closing stages, Ulrich slipped a precise ball to Tovar, who set up Víctor Morillo, but his shot went over.
Blanco’s substitutions injected fresh energy and ATB closed out a win that reinforces their excellent form and keeps them very close to the top of the table. A statement victory away from home and yet another sign that this team wants to aim for everything.
The next match will be the Copa del Rey clash against RCD Espanyol on Thursday the 4th at 19:00.
