Nerea López and Joana Valcaneras renew and strengthen homegrown talent
The club continues to strengthen its commitment to homegrown talent with the renewal, for one more season, of Nerea López López Xamena and Joana María Valcaneras Horrach, two players who have played a key role in the first team during the 2025/2026 season.
Nerea López, flair and goals
The 21-year-old forward has established herself as one of the team’s main attacking references. This season she has scored five goals, delivering decisive performances and proving her ability to make the difference at crucial moments.
Nerea stands out for her dribbling, her eye for goal and her constant energy, qualities that have made her a regular starter in Miky Mayans’ line-ups.
Joana Valcaneras, defensive solidity and growth
Meanwhile, Joana Valcaneras, a 22-year-old defender, has shown remarkable progress since joining the club in 2024 from UD Collerense.
Her consistency, commitment and defensive strength have allowed her to secure a place in the starting XI this season, becoming an important piece in the team’s structure.
Both players represent the growth of Balears FC’s academy model, establishing themselves as examples of talent developed from within and promoted to the first team.
Sporting management statements
“We are very pleased with the renewal of two young prospects and, above all, academy players, highlighting the excellent work being done in our youth system and our ongoing commitment to young, high-quality, local talent.
This ensures that next season we will have defensive solidity and good ball distribution with Joana, as well as pace and attacking flair with López. Both players have proven this season that they are fully established in the team and the division, becoming key profiles both for the present and the future.
With these renewals, Balears FC continues its objective of maintaining this season’s competitive core, aiming to build a strong, high-quality squad capable of competing with full guarantees in 2026/2027.”
