Important ATB win ends the poor run (1–2)

A superb team performance, capped by a brace from Tovar, earned ATB three hugely valuable points on the road.

The match kicked off with heavy pressure from the hosts at the Miguel Monleon Stadium. Ten minutes in, a fantastic cross from Jofre Cherta found Tovar, who headed ATB into the lead. Shortly after, Miguelito tried his luck from distance, but the Torrent keeper pushed it out for a corner. In the 16th minute, Miguelito delivered another excellent cross from the wing, this time met by Gerardo, though his header went straight into the goalkeeper’s hands.

In the 37th minute, Jofre struck a volley that brought out a brilliant save from the home goalkeeper. The first half was marked by high intensity and plenty of long balls, a result of both teams’ pressing.

The second half began without changes. In the 53rd minute, Tovar — the team’s “gunslinger” — scored a stunning goal to double ATB’s advantage. Ten minutes later, Pablo produced a superb save to deny a long-range effort from Torrent.

In the 64th minute, Moha and Ramis came on for Miguelito and Juanmi, injecting fresh legs into the side. ATB kept the match under control until the 84th minute, when a corner was headed in by Raúl Caballero, adding tension to the closing stages. Torrent pushed forward with crosses into the box, but ATB’s defence stayed solid and allowed no clear chances.

In the end, ATB secured a much-needed win that puts an end to the bad streak and boosts confidence ahead of next Sunday’s derby at noon against leaders UD Poblense.
