Álvaro Martín brings solidity and composure on the ball to the Atlético Baleares defence

Atlético Baleares continue shaping their squad for the 2026/27 season with the signing of 26-year-old left-footed centre-back Álvaro Martín, who joins from Terrassa FC to strengthen the club’s defensive unit.

The Aragon-born defender is recognised for his consistency, competitive mentality and reliability. Standing at 1.80 metres, he primarily operates as a left-sided centre-back but is equally capable of playing at left-back thanks to his versatility and excellent tactical awareness.

Over the past few seasons, Martín has established himself as one of the division’s most dependable defenders, making more than 120 appearances in Segunda Federación. He has also demonstrated remarkable consistency, featuring in virtually every match for his teams over the last three campaigns.

Defensively, he stands out for his ability to win duels, his intelligent aggression in one-on-one situations and his overall defensive reliability. Despite not being the tallest centre-back, he is highly effective in the air thanks to his timing and anticipation. He also offers excellent ball distribution with his left foot.

Atlético Baleares General Director Patrick Messow welcomed the signing:

He’s strong in duels, comfortable playing out from the back and, despite standing at 1.80 metres, competes extremely well in aerial situations. We’re convinced he fits perfectly into the footballing identity we want to build during this new chapter.”

With the arrival of Álvaro Martín, Atlético Baleares add experience, competitiveness and another key piece to strengthen the defence ahead of the challenges of the 2026/27 season.
