Óscar Troya: “I’ve got a fantastic squad and we’re ready to compete with anyone”
CD Atlético Baleares held their press conference ahead of the opening league fixture this Friday at the facilities of Padel Club Mallorca, an official sponsor of the club. Óscar Troya spoke to the media for the first time ahead of a competitive match as the blue-and-white head coach, alongside the club’s general manager, Patrick Messow.
The blue-and-whites kick off the 2026/27 season away to Yeclano Deportivo this Sunday, in what will be Óscar Troya’s first competitive match in charge of CD Atlético Baleares.
Before discussing the match, Patrick Messow thanked Juan Carlos Medina and the entire Padel Club Mallorca team for their support and confirmed that the partnership will continue for another season.
Patrick Messow, general manager:
“First of all, I’d like to thank Juan Carlos and his entire team. We’re delighted to confirm that Padel Club Mallorca will be staying with us for another season.”
“The squad is complete. We’ve got the contracts we wanted and now it’s down to the players.”
“Pre-season has been very good. Now we want to build on that work as a team and get the competitive season off to a good start.”
Óscar Troya, head coach:
“We’re going to a very demanding ground to face a very tough opponent. Yeclano play very good football and they’ll force us to produce our best. All my focus is on Yecla and coming away with the three points.”
“We’re two teams that have changed quite a lot. We’ll see how the differences within the group develop over the course of the season.”
“I’ve got a fantastic squad. Over these eight weeks we’ve really come together as a team and I’m convinced we can compete with anyone. The important thing is that everyone pulls in the same direction.”
“We need to be versatile and have the ball. We’ve got the tools and the players to do that. We want to keep improving week by week.”
“I’m expecting an intense game with very little time to think. We need to make as few mistakes as possible and try to punish theirs. The excitement among the fans gives me a great sense of responsibility, and now it’s time for us to do our talking on the pitch. We want to lay that first stone.”
CD Atlético Baleares will therefore play their first competitive match of the 2026/27 season this Sunday, 6 September, at 11:30, away to Yeclano Deportivo on the opening matchday of the league campaign.
