First league defeat for ATB against Sant Andreu’s efficiency (2-4)

A tough third matchday for ATB, who suffer their first home defeat against a top-class rival showing maximum efficiency

The match couldn’t have started better for the Balearicos: Jaume Tovar put the blue-and-whites ahead after pressing the opposing goalkeeper into a mistake.

Just three minutes later, a superb cross and a powerful header from Marcos Mendes levelled the score. For the rest of the first half both teams shared possession in a very tight game full of interruptions. The setback came right before the break, in the 46th minute, when a free kick from the edge of the box gave the visitors a 1-2 lead.

In the second half ATB tried to push from the start, but another early goal from Mendes, finishing a move inside the box, made things even harder.

The Balearicos kept trying without success, sending in numerous crosses that found no finisher. With the team fully committed to attack, UE Sant Andreu took advantage of the spaces and sealed the match with a counterattack goal by Sergi García to make it 1–4.

In the final stretch, the referee added nine minutes due to constant stoppages. Captain Bover, in the 93rd minute, pulled one back with a powerful left-footed strike inside the area to set the final 2–4.

A match that leaves important lessons and pushes the team to give everything next Sunday in Barbastro.
