Atlético Baleares kick off the league with a solid 3-0 win at Estadio Balear against Castellón
Atlético Baleares seal the match in the first half with excellent team play
Atlético Baleares started the season with a convincing win and very positive signs. Right from the beginning, the team applied high pressure in the opposition half and created several clear chances, although the scoreboard resisted. In the 23rd minute, a floated cross from Ramis was headed in by Tovar to make it 1-0. Ten minutes later, Tovar won a penalty that Florin Andone converted. Just before halftime, Morillo intercepted the ball and fired a shot; Andone’s effort was parried and Jofre pounced to score his first goal in the Balearic shirt.
In the second half, the blanquiazul side kept defensive control and continued to threaten, with Iván López hitting the crossbar and other chances that could have extended the lead.
After the match, coach Luis Blanco shared his thoughts on the team’s performance:
“The team wanted to take the initiative both with and without the ball, keeping a high tempo and trying to recover possession as quickly as possible.”
“Although the second half was a bit disorganized, I never felt the opponent had control of the game.”
“I highlight the collective effort and the talent of all the players; I’m very pleased with the win and with the chances we created.”
