Atlético Baleares show promising signs in Sabadell (1-1)
The team earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw this Saturday in their first away match of the season.
The match began with the home side in control. The “arlequinats” pressed high and were rewarded in the 16th minute, when Agustí Coscia, after a fine cross from the left, made it 1-0. The Balearic side found it difficult to create space in the first half, opting to look for their most advanced men without much depth.
The second half brought better sensations for the team. With more possession and presence in the opposition half, the team tried to surprise with balls played in behind, although several moves were ruled out for offside. The reward came in the 80th minute: Juanmi delivered a perfect left-footed cross, Tovar controlled superbly and finished like a true number 9 to seal the final 1-1.
After the match, coach Luis Blanco highlighted his players’ effort:
“We lacked a bit of depth in the first half, but overall we did many things well. We are still getting up to competitive rhythm, but little by little the players are improving.”
