Defeat in Sa Pobla (1-0)
CD Atlético Baleares fell to a 1-0 defeat against UD Poblense in the 54th edition of the Trofeu de S’Agricultura, with the pre-season fixture decided by a first-half header from the hosts.
Before kick-off, UD Poblense paid tribute to Óscar Troya and his coaching staff, as well as the Atlético Baleares players who previously represented the Sa Pobla side.
The match got off to an evenly contested start. ATB had their first chance in the third minute, when Raúl Caballero fired over the bar. Nofre Riera also tried his luck from outside the box in the 17th minute, but his effort went high.
The only goal of the game arrived in the 26th minute. UD Poblense made the most of an aerial ball to take the lead with a header and make it 1-0.
After the break, Atlético Baleares stepped up a gear and enjoyed their best spell of the match as they pushed harder for an equaliser. In the 55th minute, Rubén Bover and Giaquinto were sent off, leaving both sides with ten men.
Óscar Troya made a host of changes in the 62nd minute, bringing on Pablo Hernández, Martí Payeras, Álvaro Martín, Miguel Soler, Florin Andone, Jofre Cherta, Miguelito and Rubén Catalá in place of Iván López, Barto Fontanet, Nofre Riera, Gerardo Bonet, Axel Bejarano, Adrià Català, Raúl Caballero and Izan Llinares.
ATB piled on the pressure in the closing stages and created chances to draw level. In the 83rd minute, Florin Andone went close to equalising following a cross from Jofre Cherta. Three minutes later, the striker threatened again with a shot that forced the home goalkeeper into a low save.
The scoreline remained unchanged until the final whistle, with UD Poblense claiming the 54th edition of the Trofeu de S’Agricultura.
