Home victory (1-0) against SD Ibiza keeps the team at the top

Luis Blanco’s side earned all three points at the Estadio Balear thanks to a single penalty goal by Jaume Tovar, despite having several chances, especially in the second half.

The blue-and-white team started with Pablo García in goal. In defence: Jaume Pol, alongside Ulrich, Iván López and Gerardo Bonet, who was deployed at right-back. In midfield, the trio was formed by Alejandro, Jofre Cherta and captain Rubén Bover. Luis Blanco completed the lineup with Moha Keita and Víctor Morillo on the wings, and up front was Jaume Tovar.

As for the Ibiza side, coach Raúl Casany lined up Edu Frías in goal, with Adrián López, Tomás Bourdal, Cruz and Andrada in defence. Marcos and Pepe Bernal controlled the midfield, while Álex Sánchez, Carlos Gilbert, Teo Michel and Lorenzo Busi led the attack.

First half

The opening minutes were marked by a lack of control. Both teams struggled to create real danger near the boxes. However, as time went by, Luis Blanco’s men began to take command of the ball.

Most of the attacking play came down the right flank, with Moha Keita as the main offensive threat. In the 19th minute, the Senegalese player managed to break through the defence, but a poor one-two with Jaume Tovar stopped the move from progressing.

Towards the end of the first half, an error by the visiting goalkeeper created a great chance, leading to a cross from Víctor Morillo that, however, nobody could connect with.

Second half

The second half began with a yellow card for Balearic captain Rubén Bover. In the 61st minute, Jaume Tovar earned a penalty and converted it himself to extend his scoring run.

The next clear chance came from a free kick taken by Jofre Cherta that was heading for the top corner, but the visiting goalkeeper made a brilliant save to deny the second goal.

The next challenge is CE Andratx, on Sunday, October 12 at 12:00 noon at Sa Plana, the Andratx ground.

Statements from Luis Blanco:

“We have to congratulate the team. We stayed solid.”

“It’s important to get the three points in front of our fans.”

“We managed to make sure that, even when we weren’t at our best, the opponent didn’t create much danger.”

“In the second half, we carried the ball better and the players coming off the bench gave us a lot of energy.”

On Tovar:

“He’s helping us enormously, not only with his goals but with all the work he does.”

“He’s in great form and we have to make the most of it. But there are also other players performing at a very high level.”
