Atlético Baleares draw in Cieza (1-1)

CD Atlético Baleares picked up a point away to CD Cieza in a match in which Rubén Catalá gave the visitors the lead after a cross from Nofre Riera. The hosts equalised from a corner before half-time, with the score remaining unchanged after the break.

Juli Rivas was called into action early on, dealing with the home side’s first attacks and making a fine save in the ninth minute. ATB also looked to threaten at the other end, with a cross from Nofre ending up in the goalkeeper’s hands.

The link-up between Nofre and Rubén Catalá paid off in the 28th minute. The full-back delivered a cross and the striker headed home to make it 0-1 and put Óscar Troya’s side ahead. Cieza responded in the 39th minute, however, equalising from a corner to send the teams into the break at 1-1.

After the restart, Atlético Baleares pushed for a second goal and stepped up their attacking presence. The Mallorca-born coach made changes from the bench, bringing on Izan Llinares for Adri Catalá in the 65th minute and Hugo Anglada for Iván López two minutes later.

ATB kept pushing until the final whistle. Pablo Hernández replaced Jofre Cherta in the 89th minute and, in the closing stages, Izan had an opportunity with a right-footed effort that went over the crossbar.

The match ended with the points shared, as the team remain without a win.
