ATB take a point in Olot (1-1)
ATB let three points slip away in the final play
ATB drew 1-1 against Olot on matchday 17 of the Segunda RFEF league (Group III). The Balearic side played their first game of the year with a different starting eleven due to the absence of Jaume Tovar through injury and the suspension of Gerardo Bonet, who was serving a one-match ban for accumulated yellow cards. The positive note was the return of captain Rubén Bover to the squad after several months out injured.
The match could not have started better for the visitors. In the 2nd minute, Moha forced a yellow card from the home defender and, just two minutes later, after a flick-on from Pol, Moha himself opened the scoring to make it 0-1.
The team continued to compete at a high level and, in the 26th minute, Pablo García produced an excellent save to preserve the lead. Until half-time, the game remained very evenly balanced between both sides.
The second half began with the same players on the pitch. In the 59th minute, Jaume Pol received the team’s first yellow card, and shortly afterwards came a superb defensive action by Castell and another fine save from Pablo.
The first substitutions arrived in the 71st minute, with Juanmi, Axel and Miguelito making way for Manu Morillo, Iván Serrano and Miguel. Just one minute later, captain Pol was shown a second yellow card and ATB were reduced to ten men.
Despite being a man down, the team managed to hold firm in the closing stages of the match. Rubén Bover, who was booked, and youth player Català came on, strengthening the team’s defensive effort.
Misfortune struck in the final play of the game, when the home side managed to score the equaliser, denying ATB all three points.
The next fixture will be against Barbastro on Sunday the 11th at 12:00 pm.
