Luis Blanco: “The team is very focused and wants to win now”

The Atlético Baleares head coach reflected on the current situation of his squad after several matches without securing a win. He also spoke about their next opponent, Torrent CF, and the recent news surrounding them. Additionally, he provided an update on player availability and shared his thoughts on RCD Espanyol, their Copa del Rey rival.

Team situation

“This has been a week of improvement; we’ve focused on ourselves.”

“The feeling is that we do some things well, but we’re not competitive enough.”

“We must not get the sense that we’re giving things away to the opponent.”

“The team is very focused and wants to win now.”

“I’m the main one responsible, but we can’t switch off mentally during the match. The team also feels responsible.”

“This situation wears you down. We need to do more to win games, give 110%.”

“We need to control the small details to be able to take all three points.”

“Rubén Bover and Iván López will unfortunately be out for a long time.”

“We’ve recovered Jaume Pol after his suspension.”

“We know our goal and where we want to be. And for that, we need points.”

About Torrent CF

Atlético Baleares’ next opponent announced two days ago a change of head coach. Also, the match will not be played at their stadium due to renovation works. It will instead take place at Estadio Miguel Monleón.

“We don’t know exactly what the opponent might propose, but we have an idea.”

“The context is different too: it’s their first match not being played at their home ground.”

“They’re coming off a very good season last year.”

“Beyond their league position, they haven’t lost at home. They’ve always been a very competitive side at their stadium.”

“Besides the players they have — and I think they have a strong squad — they’ve signed a coach who will give them an extra boost.”

RCD Espanyol: a top-level rival in the Cup

“They’re a historic club in the league. A great opponent, one you look forward to facing.”

“We’re lucky they’re coming here to play the Copa del Rey.”

“It’s something special for me because of my past, but right now I’m only focused on doing things right on Sunday.”

Atlético Baleares’ matchday 11 fixture will be played in the Valencian Community, against Torrent CF, on Sunday, 16 November at 12:00.
