ATB convincingly secured the Nicolás Brondo Trophy with a commanding 8-1 win over UD Rotlet Molinar, in a match where the team showed firepower from the very first minute and where the youngsters took center stage in the second half.
The game couldn’t have started better: Gerardo Bonet struck a volley in the opening minute to make it 1-0. Barely ten minutes later, Axel produced a brilliant solo run and once again set up Gerardo, who headed home his second (2-0).
Rotlet pulled one back with a stunning long-range strike from Andrés Guilabert (2-1, 31’), but the response was immediate: Morillo delivered a cross that Axel volleyed in to restore the cushion (3-1). Just before half-time, a handball led to a penalty, which Morillo converted on the rebound, making it 4-1 at the break.
After the restart, coach Luis Blanco brought on Ulrich, Serrano, Jofre and Juanmi. Jofre scored a spectacular goal right after the start of the second half for 5-1. In the 60th minute, youth goalkeeper Víctor Esteban made his first-team debut, enjoying his first senior minutes.
Soon after, Català scored the sixth following a fine assist from Diego Estrada, who later added the seventh with a header. In the closing minutes, Juanmi sealed the 8-1 victory with a left-footed strike inside the box.
The team delivered a very solid performance, with the regulars shining in the first half and the youngsters showing character and quality in the second. A win that boosts morale ahead of the start of official competition.
The next match will be on Saturday, September 6 at 8:00 pm against Castellón B at the Estadio Balear.
