Luis Blanco: “The team created enough to win”

Atlético Baleares head coach Luis Blanco has confirmed that the team’s current scoring form is «normal within the competition» and that there is «nothing unusual» about it, speaking at the press conference ahead of matchday eight. In the build-up to the clash between ATB and RCD Espanyol B, the coach also reflected on his past at Espanyol, his thoughts on the opponent, the schedule, and the team’s physical condition.

Luis Blanco and his Espanyol past:

«It’s a special match: it’s a club that helped me grow as both a professional and a person.»

«Once the match begins, there will be no sentiment — we’ll compete. The only goal will be to win.»

On the opponent:

«As a team they’ve taken a big step forward. From the start of the season until now they’ve been improving steadily.»

«It’ll be an entertaining match, and we need to make sure we impose our game.»

On the team’s situation and goal-scoring efficiency:

«The team has created enough chances to win the last few games, but we’ve been missing that killer instinct — we’re not being decisive enough with the chances we create.»

«Not being so sharp in front of goal is normal in this competition. There’s nothing out of the ordinary.»

«We haven’t managed to win the last two games, but the team has competed very well, which keeps me calm. Still, we must improve — what we’ve done lately hasn’t been enough to win.»

On the schedule and squad workload:

«I’m only thinking about RCD Espanyol — that’s the most important game. On Monday, it’ll be the Cup.»

«We have a very balanced squad, with players who can cover several positions.»

«Florin Andone» started training with the group this week, but it’s unlikely he’ll be ready for Sunday.»

«We’re calm because he’s right on schedule.»

«Iván Serrano and Manuel Morillo» are continuing their recovery. We hope at least one of them can rejoin the team next week.»

Matchday eight, Atlético Baleares – RCD Espanyol B, will be played on Sunday, October 26, at 12 p.m. at Estadi Balear.
