CD Atlético Baleares wins the Rubén Nova Trophy (0-1)
The Balearicos lift the Rubén Nova Trophy after a very tough and hard-fought match.
In the first half, the team managed to get in behind Andratx’s defence on several occasions but without creating clear chances. Tovar tried twice and Jofre also had a go, but their shots went straight into the keeper’s hands. The clearest chance came from Català after a great pass from Bover, but he was stopped by a clear foul that the referee failed to call. Defensively, the team was very solid, conceding very little to the home side, with the full-backs pushing high and the centre-backs looking very secure.
Right after the restart, Juanmi fired a rocket that shaved the post. Minutes later, Jaume Pascual, a former ATB player, scored but it was ruled out for offside.
In the 69th minute, Florin almost scored with a header after a superb cross from Morillo, but it went straight at the goalkeeper. Then in the 81st, Juanmi suffered a tough tackle from behind and had to be replaced by Diego Estrada.
It wasn’t until the 88th minute that, after another fantastic cross from Morillo, Florin delicately touched the ball into the net to make it 0-1.
A very disciplined and hard-working game from the team, who return to winning ways in a difficult ground.
