CD Atlético Baleares falls at home against Málaga CF (1-2)
CD Atlético Baleares fell by the narrowest margin to Málaga CF (1-2) at the Estadi Balear. Tato García’s team couldn’t overcome an opponent who capitalized on their chances. Villapalos opened the scoring for the home side, but Roberto and former Atlético Baleares player Dioni turned the game around.
The match was marked by sunshine and high temperatures. Despite this, the Balearic fans were very present and made their presence felt throughout the 90 minutes.
The opening goal of the match came from a cross by Roberto Alarcón. Alberto Villapalos rose above to head home and score his first goal since returning to the blanquiazul club. Málaga CF didn’t take long to respond, but Roberto’s shot was blocked by a well-positioned Jero.
In the dying moments of the first half, the Malaga side equalized. Roberto managed to beat the Murcian goalkeeper with a header. In injury time, Pastrana came close to putting the home team ahead again, but his shot was deflected by a defender. The first half ended with a 1-1 draw.
The second half began with Málaga taking the lead. Dioni capitalized on a second opportunity after a corner kick and scored the winning goal for the visiting team. ATB pushed hard in the closing stages. However, goalkeeper Jero Lario also had to intervene twice to prevent a third goal.
The match ended with a score of 1-2. CD Atlético Baleares will play away against Atlético Sanluqueño next week in search of their first victory of the season.
