Atlético Baleares earns a team victory in Valencia (0-2)
The Balearic side takes three golden points from a tough away ground
From the very start, the team came out with character, dominating possession and creating plenty of danger in the opponent’s box. The breakthrough came in the 30th minute: Tovar, quick to react, pounced on a rebound after Alejandro’s cross-shot and opened the scoring (0-1).
The team kept pushing and just five minutes later Jaume, once again showing killer instinct inside the six-yard box, found space and fired across the keeper into the left corner to make it 0-2. Shortly after, captain Rubén Bover nearly added a third with a strike against the post from a corner.
ATB remained solid until half-time, hardly conceding any chances.
In the second half, Valencia Mestalla tried to respond with substitutions, increasing the pressure on Pablo García’s goal. However, the Balearic backline stood firm with a very assured display, particularly in the air.
With the first changes coming in the 70th minute, the team regained fresh legs and took back control of parts of the game. Tovar came close to a hat-trick with a shot that went narrowly wide of the left post.
In the final minutes, the blue-and-whites stayed strong at the back, giving away very little.
A victory that strengthens the coach’s philosophy and gives the team confidence to keep going this way.
The next challenge will be against UE Sant Andreu, on Saturday at 18:30 at Estadio Balear.
